Develop Lab is an iOS app I designed and built for developing film at home. It guides you bath by bath through black-and-white, C-41 and paper processing and rings when it is time to agitate, so your hands can stay on the tank instead of your eyes on a clock.
Next to the timer, the app holds ten illustrated guides on developing film, from loading the reel in the dark to the first print, with infographics drawn in the same flat language as the interface. Custom profiles store your own developer, dilution and agitation rhythm.
The design follows the darkroom itself: a safelight mode in dim red on black keeps your eyes dark-adapted, large monospaced numerals stay readable from across the room, and the controls borrow from analogue camera hardware.
